PUEBLO, CO- Colorado Christian took on a loaded field of talent at the West Region Preview at Pueblo Country Club Monday and Tuesday. The Cougars more than held their own as they surged late in round two to claim a tie for 7th and finish just four strokes off a top 5 finish.
ROUND ONE
Raya Schulz led her team in the first round, carding a 77 with a birdie.
Kendall Simms and
Kylee Hughes each had a 78, and
Makenna Brown fired an 81.
Hannah Martin closed with an 83 to finish day one in Pueblo.
ROUND TWO
Schulz continued her strong form on the final day of play, shooting a 75 as she claimed a tie for 14th place overall. Simms posted a 76 to place 23rd, while a 76 from Brown gave her 46th. Hughes finished with an 80 to come in 54th, and an 85 from Martin saw her finish in 95th.
As a team, the Cougars shot an overall score of 621 (314, 307) as they tied for seventh place overall and came just four strokes off a top five performance.
Colorado Christian will look to close the fall season well at the East Bay Fall Invitational October 27-28 in Hayward, California at Stonebrae Country Club.
