The Offensive Numbers

Jordan Medina has been the squad's biggest offensive threat since the season started. He has started all 19 games as the catcher or the designated hitter. His .353 batting average leads the team and is 20th in the conference. He leads the team in nearly all offensive categories and is making a strong case for a spot on the all-conference team. Among qualified players, Frankie Shearn III is second on the team with a .311 batting average while Caden Walton's .303 batting average third on the squad.

As a team the Cougars are hitting .260 and are getting on-base at a .349 clip.

On the Mound

Kylar Riordan and Justin Kiedinger are the only two Colorado Christian hurlers to start five games. Riordan leads the team with 23 strikeouts in a team high 26.2 innings pitched. Kiedinger has registered 17.2 innings of work with his four walks the lowest among the squad's starting pitchers. Out of the bullpen JC Watne has moved from walk-on a few years ago to the most reliable arm on the team.  He is 3-0 in his six appearances with a pair of saves in 12.1 innings.

... And in the Field

The Cougars defense has been exceptional through the first half of the campaign. Their 18 team errors are the fewest in the RMAC with their .974 field percentage the best in the league.

RMAC Coaches Poll

The preseason RMAC coaches poll picked the Cougars to finish seventh in the nine-team conference. Colorado Mesa was picked to win the league as they received eight of the possible nine first-place votes. Colorado School of Mines was selected second, garnering the other first-place vote.

Head Coach - Paul Koss

The 2020-21 season will be the first full season as head coach for Koss.

Paul Koss was named the school's full-time baseball coach on March 19, 2020. He was serving as the interim head coach for just over four months prior. He has been with the program since the 2017 season, serving as the squad's pitching coach before being elevated to the program's leader.

Originally from California, Koss played baseball at Orange Lutheran High School, where he then went on to play at the University of Southern California.

After four years of playing at USC he was selected in the 11th round of the 2007 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played for the organization for four seasons, reaching the AA level. Koss recorded 20 saves and 140 strikeouts as a reliever in his four Minor League Baseball seasons. He was a single-A All-Star while playing in the California League in 2008.

In his playing career at USC he was the closer for three years ending his career second all-time in career saves, single season saves and appearances for the Trojans. This lead to playing for the Chatham A's in the Cape Cod league and earning a spot on the All-Star team in 2006 and received pitcher of the year honors.
