GOLDEN, CO – A group of competitors competed at the Colorado School of Mines Last Chance Meet on Friday evening in hopes of improving their chances of NCAA Championship qualification.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The feature of the evening was Michelle Kuipers' 800 race. The freshman put herself in prime position for qualification into the NCAA Championships. She ran the two-lap event in a school record time of 2:10.87. Her raw time places her 15th on the national list. When her altitude converted time is reported late Saturday she is likely to be in the top 10.
During the 1500 race Christy Shuster ran a raw time of 4:37.38 which will altitude convert to an NCAA provisional time. It was a personal best effort for Shuster and places her among the top five efforts in school history.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
During the 1500 meter race Trent Cochran ran his second fastest raw time as he crossed he crossed the finish line in 3:51.71; which was less than a second away from his previous best. The sophomore's time from three weeks ago at the Mines Pre-Conference Invite remains among the top 30 times in the nation.
Tyler Bradley fell a few tenths of a second short of improving his already NCAA provisional time (21.22) in the 200 meter dash. On Friday evening he ran a 21.81 as the lone competitor in the event.
NCAA TIMELINE
On Tuesday the NCAA will release its list of individual qualifiers at 4 p.m. (Mountain Time) on its website. The NCAA Championships are set for the last weekend of May hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, MI.
