Two players on the men's soccer team have been recognized by the RMAC after their historic weekend where they tied #17 UCCS 0-0, and went on to beat third ranked CSU Pueblo 2-0.
Tobi Osifodunrin was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week, while
Grant Roloff was named the RMAC Defender of the Week.
Â
Tobi Osifodunrin earned the honor after scoring two goals in the game against CSU Pueblo which gave the Cougars their biggest win in program history. The two goals in a single game ties a school record, which has been done on multiple occasions and most recently just a few weeks ago when his teammate
Dumisani Luthayi also accomplished the feat in the 6-0 win over South Dakota Mines. Â The sophomore from Thornton, CO now has scored five goals already in his two years as a member of the Cougars.
Â
Grant Roloff was named the defender of the week as he helped lead the CCU defense which didn't surrender any goals to two of the toughest teams in the conference who were both nationally ranked. He was a force on the back line as he didn't allow either offense they faced to get any momentum or traction in the games. Not only did he play a major factor on the defensive side of the ball, but also contributed offensively as he assisted on the first goal scored by
Tobi Osifodunrin.
Â
Colorado Christian will be looking to build onto the momentum they built this past weekend as they head into the final weekend of the regular season. The Cougars are currently in fifth place in the conference, right behind Westminster who they play head-to-head on Friday afternoon in Salt Lake City with a kickoff scheduled for 4PM MST. The Cougs will finish the 2022 regular season with another road matchup against Colorado Mesa University on Sunday October 23
rd at 3PM MST. Stay tuned to CCUCougars.com for all of the latest news and updates. Â
