DENVER, CO- CCU took on a plethora of nationally ranked teams on Saturday morning at Wash Park. The Cougars took seventh place overall amid tough conditions.

With snow on the ground on many parts of the course, the women navigated through it well with a strong push in the back half. Shannon King was the top finisher for the Cougars with a time of 22:44.9. Michelle Kuipers closely followed with a time of 22:48.5 as she passed several runners with a strong kick down the final stretch. Lucy Pidek came in next with a 22:53 flat while Elizabeth Mattson ran a 22:54.6. Callie Ketner closed with a 23:145.9 and Zanzie Demco closed with a 23:27.7. Paige Tack unfortunately was unable to finish the race. The women took seventh overall in a field loaded with top nationally ranked teams. 

"The women had a tougher day and didn't get out exactly the way they needed to. I think in this region when you're off just a little bit the outcomes are significant. The women rallied really hard late in the race and time will tell if that rally was enough to get them on to the next stage of the season, we'll see how that plays out," said Head Coach Jon Poag.
