The Colorado Christian women's golf team began their season in style as they competed in the 2022 Swan Memorial Golf Tournament held at Todd Creek Golf Course in Thornton, CO. CCU got off to an amazing start in rounds one and two, and had a strong finishing round as well which gave them a first-place team finish to begin the year. Three Cougs finish in the top five individually, which propelled the team and gave them a solid foundation to build on.
 
Emily Donaldson had the best individual performance from CCU as she finished in third place after shooting +6 for the tournament. Donaldson shot an opening round 73, followed by a second round 77, and saved her best for last with a third round 72. Finishing right behind Donaldson was Courtney Anderson and Kiersten Bryant who both finished with a total score of +7. On a tiebreaker, Anderson takes fourth place, while Bryant rounds out the top five. Head coach Ashlyn Kennedy spoke after the tournament about her team's performance by saying, "The girls came into this tournament with level heads. They were steady and consistent throughout the whole tournament. This performance is a great start to the season, and we are excited to keep pressing forward."
 
This tournament marked the head coaching debut for Ashlyn Kennedy, who is no stranger to the CCU golf program as she played for the team from 2014-17. About her debut she said, "Being my first tournament as head coach, this was definitely an exciting way to start my career. I loved being able to encourage and coach the girls. It felt surreal to be on the other side of the field as a coach instead of a player, but I loved every minute of it."
 
The Cougars will hit the road for their next tournament as they will be competing in the Wasatch Invitational at the Glenmoor Country Club in Salt Lake City, UT. The tournament will begin on Saturday September 24^th, and conclude on September 27^th.
