LAKEWOOD,CO- The women's golf team has three new golfers for the 2023-24 season, and the trio bring a level of skill and consistency that will help the program for years to come. The Cougars welcome freshman Lexi Girton, freshman Anna Mettler and sophomore transfer Kylee Hughes. 

Girton comes to the Cougars from Monarch High School and is a native of Superior, Colorado. Her favorite memory in golf is when she first played with her dad at a course right by their house. She had never played before, but had so much fun and realized golf was a sport she loved and wanted to keep playing. Girton looks up to her parents for their example of how to keep faith the top priority in your life. Lexi looks forward to getting closer with the team and improving in her sport a lot in the next four years with the Cougars. Girton has many accolades as a high school player, including being a three time academic all conference player and receiving Monarch Women's Golf Player of the Year her senior year. 


Mettler arrives at CCU from Discovery Canyon Campus High School in her hometown of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Anna's favorite memory in her sport is when she and her team competed at the state high school tournament her senior year. Mettler looks up to her parents for the example of hard work they have set before her and for leading her to Jesus. Anna looks forward to competing as a team and growing closer to her teammates through both tournaments and serving activities. Mettler was an accomplished athlete and student in high school, earning first team all state honors and going to the national DECA tournament. 

Hughes is a sophomore transfer who comes to Colorado Christian after a year at Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho. Her favorite golf memory came from her time with the Warriors when she shot a 71 at Timberstone Golf Club. Kylee looks up to her parents and how they have led her the right way and have always been there for her in good and bad times. They are understanding, honest and always push her to do her best. Hughes is excited to improve her golf game and experience new places with her teammates at CCU. Hughes is a decorated high school golfer, earning First Team All State her senior year and lettering all four years at her high school in her hometown of Eagle, Colorado. Kylee also earned All-Conference honors at LCSC her freshman year as a Warrior.
