LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced their Preseason Poll for women's golf on Wednesday, and the Cougars have received the #2 ranking out of the 11 teams that compete in the conference.
There is a lot of optimism as Head Coach Ashlyn Kennedy begins her second year at the helm of the program. It was an extremely successful year last season as the team went all the way to the NCAA Regionals in impressive fashion.
The team will take on a new look this year, with four returning players and four newcomers. Mary Beth Doss, Maggie Porter, Raya Schulz and Makenna Brown return to the team after a strong 2022-23 season, and Braedann Adams, Alexis Girton, Kylee Hughes and Anna Mettler begin their first year of collegiate golf at CCU this season.
The team competed well throughout the season last year, taking home a win at the Pack Classic before they headed to the RMAC Championships. While there, the team showed great resilience, battling back from a slow start to claim second place. The strong close led to an at-large berth at the NCAA Regionals as the Cougars finished the year strong.
As they embark on a new year, CCU will look to win even more tournaments and make a push even further into the NCAA postseason. Their season begins at the Swan Memorial September 8-9 at the Broadlands Golf Club in Broomfield, CO.
