DENVER, CO- The Cougars headed to nearby Wash Park in Denver to take part in the Roadrunners Invitational on Saturday. This was the first true meet of the year for Colorado Christian as they competed with eight teams on the day. The women started the day off finishing sixth as a team, while the men took fifth overall. 

The women got the day started by running a 6k (3.73 miles) on a beautiful morning in Denver. Callie Ketner led the team with a 20th place finish as she ran a time of 23:34.57. Alysia Wagner followed in 21st as she posted a time of 23:43.39. Kaylie Bookout followed in 25th as she ran a time of 23:58.27. Beth Pirentoni and Maleah Wardlaw closed out the top 5 for the team as CCU got a sense for the year ahead with a quality first meet. 

The men came next, running the 8k (4.97 miles). It was a crowded race with many top teams from both division I and division II. Ethan Wampler came in first for his team with a run of 26:32.41. Closely following was Mateo Luna with a time of 26:33.29. Sam Schwarting came next with a run of 26:47.98. Tate Fletcher and Kale Edmonds closed out the top 5 for the team as they placed fifth overall amongst tough competition. 

The Cougars will now send some runners to the Ted Castaneda Classic in Colorado Springs on September 30.
