SOUTH JORDAN, UT- Colorado Christian headed west to take part in the Wasatch Invitational in Utah September 24-26. Competing amongst 10 teams at the Glenmoor Golf Club, CCU rode the momentum from an excellent second round to a third place finish as they took down five RMAC schools in the process.
ROUND ONE
Raya Schulz led the team on the first day, firing a 78 with a pair of birdies to start the back nine. Kylee Hughes and Mary Beth Doss both shot 81s on the day, while Makenna Brown carded an 82. Anna Mettler posted a round of 88 to close the first day.
Braedann Adams competed as an individual at the tournament, and she had a solid start with an 84.
ROUND TWO
Brown helped the Cougars lower their team score on the second day of play, shooting an impressive 70 with three birdies to go two under par on the day. Schulz followed with a 75, including an incredible hole-in-one on the par three 16th. Hughes carded a 78, while Doss and Mettler each had 81s as CCU climbed the team leaderboards.
Adams finished with an 83 on day two, including a birdie on the final hole.
ROUND THREE
Schulz closed strong, netting three birdies to card a final round 74 and claim fourth place overall. Brown shot an 80 as she finished in a tie for eighth. Doss posted a 74 to tie for 17th, while Hughes tallied an 81 to tie for 27th. Mettler closed with an 81 as she tied for 49th.
Adams shot a final round score of 78 as she tied for 39th overall.
As a team, the Cougars posted a score of 935 (322, 304, 309) through the three rounds played, good for third place overall out of 10 teams competing.
CCU will continue the fall season October 9-10 at the Sam Proal Invite in Pueblo.
