LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their All-Conference honors on Friday, and after a stellar first season with the Cougars,
Tiago Gomes has earned a spot on the Honorable Mention All-RMAC list.
Gomes transferred to CCU from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and he made his presence felt throughout the season with his knack for incredible goals from distance. The sophomore from Portugal led his team with five goals and tallied a pair of assists for a team high 12 points. Gomes' most memorable moments came against Fort Lewis and Regis. Taking on the nationally ranked Skyhawks, Tiago helped his team to a 2-2 draw when he smashed a ball near post from outside the box to level the score with under ten minutes to go. He saved his best for last as CCU took on the RMAC's second place team in the Rangers on a snowy season finale at Trailblazer Stadium. He began by tying the game at 3-3 with a goal from close range that he slotted beautifully past the keeper. He then proceeded to net an absolute stunner from far outside the box to catch the keeper off guard and give his team their fourth goal in an eventual 4-4 tie. Gomes still has two more years to go at Colorado Christian, and he will continue to be a big part of the offense moving forward as he seeks more goals and opportunities for his team.
Congratulations to
Tiago Gomes on being named Honorable Mention All-RMAC!
