BOSTON, MA- ALBUQUERQUE, NM- Colorado Christian sent runners to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Don Kirby in Boston and the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque on Friday and Saturday. CCU saw a multitude of personal bests and good times throughout the weekend as they have just one more meet until the RMAC championships.
Hannah George started things in New Mexico with a time of 7.94 in the 60m. She continued with a personal best and school record in the 200m with a blazing fast run of 25.86. Tara Smoker then impressed in the 400m, running a time of 57.89 for her best time of the season in the event. In the mile, Ava Maginity ran a 5:11.26, while Zanzie Demco posted a 5:20.23. Ashley Vil took part in the triple jump, pacing fourth with a leap of 11.29m.
For the men in New Mexico, Klay Grant ran a 4:30.80 in the mile to start things off. In the 3000m, Ethan Wampler ran a personal best time of 8:44.77, while Caleb Hershey also set a personal record in the event with a run of 8:44.93. Meanwhile in Boston, Trent Cochran ran a 4:10.51 in the mile, followed by Hudson Majeski with a 4:11.41.
Alex Vance ran in the lengthy 3000m, posting a time of 8:28.13. Matthew Storer was stellar in the 5000m, earning himself an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time in the event with a run of 13:53.70. The impressive race now puts Storer at ninth in all of DII in the event. Josh Pierantoni closed the meet with a 14:22.03 in the 5000m.
Colorado Christian will close the indoor regular season February 16 at the Air Force Open before heading to South Dakota for the RMAC Championships February 23-24.
