LAKEWOOD, CO- Men's Soccer Associate Head Coach Caleb Cole has been named the new Head Coach of Women's Soccer. Former Head Coach
Anne Metz announced that she will be taking a job as the assistant coach at Division I Samford University in Alabama.
"I very much appreciate the work that Anne has done to help strengthen the WS program's foundation over these past 18 months. Anne has worked tirelessly to recruit, train, and strengthen the culture of these young women, and we will miss Anne's passion," Athletic Director Brian Wall said.
Cole assumes the position of head coach of the women's program after spending the last four seasons on staff for the men's soccer team. Cole spent his first three seasons as an assistant coach before being promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2023 season. Caleb brings a strong passion and knowledge for the game that shines through in every practice and game he coaches.
"He brings a wealth of knowledge and skill along with a passion for the game and a passion to reinforce a program where young women can grow in their faith and experience the transforming work of Jesus Christ in their lives," said Wall.
As a coach at Colorado Christian, Cole has overseen 11 All-Conference players and helped the team to their first ever RMAC playoff berth in 2022. In addition to this, under Cole's tutelage Max Collingwood was named the RMAC Goalkeeper of the year in 2022.
"Colorado Christian University is an incredible institution of Christian higher education, and this current team of women's soccer players are eager to take a step forward as a program within the RMAC," said Cole. "I've admired their maturity during this time of change, and we are unified in our pursuit of competitive excellence here at CCU!"
With strong ties at CCU from the past four years of coaching, Cole will bring a familiarity with the soccer program and what Colorado Christian Athletics is all about to his new head coach position.
"CCU Women's Soccer is committed to developing Christian character while pursuing competitive excellence. It is our priority to use the platform of athletics and the game of soccer to glorify God," Cole said.
Prior to his time with the Cougars, Cole played professionally for the Chattanooga Football Club in Tennessee. Caleb helped the squad to the top spot in the NPSL Southeast Conference standings with a 7-2-1 record and a plus-18 goal differential.
Cole also served as the assistant coach at Westmont College in California, and served as the interim head coach for the Warriors while guiding them to a 13-2-3 record and a berth in the conference title game.
"Back in July of 2018 I began coaching women's college soccer at Westmont College, and now six years later I am thrilled to be back in women's college soccer at Colorado Christian University," Cole said. "Within the last six years I've gained a ton of experience working for Brad Camp, first as an assistant coach and then later as his associate head coach. I'm very happy that Brad will continue in his role of Director of Soccer, as we continue to build on what Coach
Anne Metz has done!"
Caleb has a passion for the game and knows what it takes to be successful at the college level. As a player at Gordon College in Massachusetts, Cole became the first three-time All-American in school history while captaining them to a conference title in 2015 and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Cole earned a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Gordon in 2017.
We are excited to see the development of the program under the leadership and guidance of Caleb as he steps into the head coaching position!
