PUEBLO, CO- The Cougars continued the spring season at the Southern Colorado open in Pueblo on Sunday. Due to snowy weather forecasted for Monday, both rounds were moved to Sunday, and after 36 holes, CCU finished in a strong fourth place out of the 12 teams competing.
ROUND ONEÂ
Mary Beth Doss came out firing in round one, tying for the low score at the tournament with a five-under 67. The junior sank six birdies on the way to her blistering round that marked a career best.
Raya Schulz was strong as well, netting five birdies on her way to a 71.
Makenna Brown followed with a 74, while
Kylee Hughes carded a 75.
Anna Mettler closed with an 83 as the team moved on to the second round.Â
ROUND TWOÂ Â
Doss closed the tournament with a 78, as she finished tied for fourth overall. Schulz shot a 79 as she closed in a tie for 15th in the tourney. Brown shot an 82 while Hughes posted an 81 as the teammates closed in a tie for 28th overall. Mettler shot a final round 84 to claim 56th.Â
As a team the Cougars shot a total of 607 (287, 320) through the two rounds of play, giving them a fourth place finish among 12 teams competing, including a field of nine RMAC squads. The round one score of 287 set the program record for lowest 18-hole score by the team.Â
Colorado Christian will now travel to Tucson, Arizona to take part in the WT Desert Invite April 1-2 at the Ventana Canyon Golf Club.Â
