KEARNEY, NE- Colorado Christian headed east to take part in the Loper Invitational hosted by University of Nebraska Kearney on Friday. The team ran hurdled and jumped well, closing their regular season. Meanwhile,
Shannon King and
Hudson Majeski competed in single events in California and Colorado to try and post NCAA Provisional Qualifying times.
King was the first to compete as she took part in the 3000m steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays in California. Shannon competed against top competition and excelled, posting a personal record time of 10:32.00 to send herself to eighth on the NCAA Provisional Qualifying list with a blazing fast time. The rest of the team competed in Nebraska on Friday, and
Hannah George got things started with a third place finish in the 100m dash with a 12.15 run.
Madeline Schmeling ran a 13.27 to close the event. George followed with a 25.56 in the 200m for fourth place.
Tara Smoker was excellent in the 400m, taking first place with a run of 56.88.
Brooke Connolly finished with a 1:12.99.
Michelle Burroughs nabbed another win for the team in the 800m, claiming the victory with a time of 2:18.38.
Elizabeth Cochran posted a 2:33.17 in the event.
Connolly continued her day in the 1500m as she ran a 5:36.45, while
Anna McLaughlin ran a 6:02.04. The 5000m was dominated by the Cougars as they claimed the top seven spots in the event.
Callie Ketner won with a time of 17:59.78, followed by
Benisa Ellis with a run of 18:06.11.
Ava Maginity nabbed third in a time of 18:09.99, and
Maleah Wardlaw posted an 18:40.98. Cochran came next with a run of 18:41.85, while
Beth Pierantoni posted a 19:10.44.
Kaylie Bookout ran a 19:19.86,
Sarah Hamlin posted a 20:07.09 and
Emma Flowers ran a 21:44.83.
Hannah Zugich posted a time of 16.94 in the 100m hurdles, and she followed with a run of 1:12.61 in the 400m hurdles. The foursome of George,
Ashley Vil, Schmeling and Smoker took part in the 4x100m relay, clocking a strong time of 49.78.
Elana Sutton leaped a height of 1.43m in the high jump, while Vil claimed victory in the triple jump with a mark of 11.01m.
Majeski took part in the 1500m at the Kit Mayer Classic at Mines, and he ran a very strong time that converted at altitude to 3:46.46 to vault himself to 10th on the NCAA Provisional Qualifying list as he claimed victory in the event. Over in Nebraska,
Paul Gibas kicked things off with a run of 11.72 in the 100m dash.
Jonah Beard then took on the 200m, running a time of 22.83 followed by Gibas with a 24.10. Beard led in the 400m with a time of 53.53, while
Jacob Marker ran a 54.16.
Mateo Luna took part in the 800m and posted a time of 1:56.31 to lead his team.
Mason Gansz ran a 2:01.59 while
Michael Mote posted a 2:02.97. David Jacquez ran a 2:15.02 and
Jason Caven closed with a 2:30.74.
Klay Grant was stellar in the 1500m, winning the event with a run of 3:55.33.
Ethan Wampler followed with a run of 4:06.75, and Gansz closed with a 4:08.91.
Alex Vance claimed the fourth win of the meet for CCU in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 14:46.97.
Sam Schwarting followed in third with a time of 15:21.87 while
Kale Edmonds was not far behind with a 15:26.67.
Jay Wood ran a 15:28.90 and
Isaac Roberts posted a time of 15:39.94.
The Cougars will now get ready for the RMAC Championships that will take place at Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction April 26-28.
