Softball Garners Eight All-Conference Honorees

LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced their All-Conference Awards on Wednesday, and after a tremendous regular season, the Cougars saw four players make the First Team, three make the Second Team and Elyse McMullin was named the Freshman of the Year. 

Elyse McMullin has been named the RMAC Freshman of the Year after contributing to her team in many ways at pitcher, third base and at the plate. Getting meaningful playing time in her first year as a Cougar, McMullin batted for an average of .382 while playing in 49 games for her team. With 15 RBI and a homer, McMullin has hit 12 doubles, 3 triples and posted 42 hits. At pitcher, Elyse has a 3.66 ERA with a win in 7 appearances in 19.2 innings pitched. At third, Elyse has been stellar, making quick picks to fire the ball to first and put runners down. SHe has recorded 35 putouts and 65 assists for an excellent fielding percentage of .962. For her overall contributions in many areas of the game, McMullin has earned the RMAC Freshman of the Year award. Not only was she named Freshman of the Year, Elyse also garnered RMAC Honorable Mention from her success on the field. 

Kenzie Middleton nabbed her second straight first team All-Conference award after a stellar senior season primarily at catcher. Kenzie has a .387 batting average, an OPS of 1.999, has started every game for her team and has hit a team high 16 home runs and 68 RBI. With 179 putouts and 17 assists, Kenzie has a .990 fielding percentage as she has been excellent at catcher and left field throughout the season. For her strong play this season, Kenzie has been named First Team All-Conference. 

Kayla Middleton was named to the first team for the second time in as many years after she had a tremendous season at the plate and at second base in her final year for the Cougars. Tying for the team lead in batting average at .436, Kayla moved to the leadoff position and has been getting on base at a percentage of .483. With 13 homers. 55 RBI and 79 hits, Kayla has been at the center of her teams' success all season long. At second base, Middleton recorded 121 putouts and 54 assists for a .972 fielding percentage as she made difficult plays look routine from her infield position. For her stellar play at the plate and in the infield, Kayla earns First Team All-Conference Honors. 

Logan Menzies garnered first team honors for the second straight year as she remained consistent and reliable at the plate and in right field. Batting for an average of .356 with 11 homers, Menzies started every game for her team and tallied 45 RBI. In right field, Logan recorded 56 putouts for a fielding percentage of .983. Menzies was invaluable at the plate and defensively, and for her efforts she has been named First Team All-Conference. 

Kaila Eastburn earned a well-deserved spot on the first team after leading the Cougars in the circle and at the plate this season. With an ERA of 2.69 and a record of 16-1, Kaila has been dominant as a pitcher with 98 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .194. With a team high 130,2 innings pitched, Eastburn has been invaluable to the wins her team has claimed this year. When she's not starting at pitcher and hitting for herself in the lineup, Kaila plays as the designated player and is stellar at the plate. Tying for the team high with an average of .436, Kaila has 12 homers and 62 RBI to push her team into the postseason. For her versatility at pitcher and at the plate, Easburn earns First Team All-Conference Honors.

Emma Duncan nabbed a spot on the second team after a stellar year in the circle. With an ERA of 3.50 and a 16-1 record, Emma has struck out 66 batters and pitched 4 shutouts for her team. With a team high nine complete games, Duncan has been a huge part of her team's winning ways this year. 

Shortstop Leah Garcia nabs second team honors after a strong season in the field and at the plate. Hitting for an average of .385 with 9 homers, Garcia is known for coming up with the clutch hit when needed. At shortstop, Leah has been excellent, turning many double plays with a fielding percentage of .963 on the season. For her excellent efforts, Garcia has been awarded Second Team All-Conference. 

Sami Edwards nabs second team honors and gold glove after another strong season at the plate and in center field. Batting for an average of .344, Edwards notched 30 RBI and tallied 56 hits batting in the two spot. In the field, Sami is incredible, making diving catches look easy to rob hitters of extra bases. With 63 putouts and four assists, Sami has a fielding percentage of .985 as she excels in center field. For her overall contribution at the plate and in the field, Edwards has earned Second Team All-Conference and Gold Glove honors.
