BROOMFIELD, CO- Colorado Christian opened their season September 9-10 by hosting the Swan Memorial at The Broadlands Golf Course. In a field of 12 teams, the Cougars fought hard and claimed a fourth place finish overall at the end of two 18 hole rounds.
ROUND ONE
Mary Beth Doss began her final opening tournament with a 75 as she sunk five birdies.
Raya Schulz followed with a 76 as she only had one bogey on the back nine.
Anna Mettler posted a 77, while freshman
Elliana McKinley scored a 78 in her first tournament round of her career.
Kylee Hughes finished with a 79 on the day to close the first round.
A highlight of the tournament came from individual player
Makenna Brown as she was tremendous throughout. Brown was stellar on day one, firing off a 71 on four birdies as she went one under par on the day. Freshman
Hannah Martin competed in her first collegiate tournament and shot an 83 to close.
ROUND TWO
Schulz closed strong with another 76 as she finished in a tie for 20th overall.
Kylee Hughes made a strong push in round two, carding a 73 with three birdies to finish eight over for a tie with her teammate in 20th. Doss closed with a 79 to finish in a tie for 25th, while Mettler shot a 79 to tie for 31st. McKinley posted a 78 to finish as she tied her teammate for 31st.
Brown was stellar again in round two, carding a 74 as she tied for third overall in impressive fashion to close her first tourney of the year. Martin finished with a 79 as she took home 49th overall.
As a team, the Cougars shot a score of 756 as they finished in fourth place overall of the 12 teams there.
With the first tournament of the year under their belts, the Cougars will now head to Arizona to take part in the RJGA Shootout at Estrella held at Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear September 16-17.
