Cougars Close San Juan Intercollegiate Tied for Fifth Place

MONTROSE, CO- Colorado Christian continued the fall season Monday and Tuesday at the San Juan Intercollegiate hosted at the Bridges Golf and Country Club in Montrose. Battling weather and a lightning delay on day one, the Cougars wrapped the three rounds of competition in a tie for fifth place overall.

ROUND ONE
Lance Christensen Jr. paced his team in the first round as he came out hot and fired a 69, netting six birdies for the two-under par round. Todd Tabor matched his teammate with a 69 as he sank six birdies as well. Camron Reddell shot an even par 71, and Tyler Debruyckere matched that with a 71. Peyton Jones closed with a 74.

Cameron Cantillana played as an individual at the tournament and started with a 75.

ROUND TWO
Round two was played on two separate days as inclement weather that included lightning in the area pushed the conclusion of the round to Tuesday. When all was said and done Tuesday morning, it was Jones who carded the best round with a 68 with three birdies and an eagle on hole one. Reddell fired a 70 with five birdies, and Christensen Jr. posted a 71 on four birdies. Tabor shot a 74 while Debruyckere closed with a 78.

Cantillana finished with a 79 in the second round of play.

ROUND THREE
Jumping right into the third round following the closing of round two on Tuesday, Christensen Jr. posted his third straight quality round with a 69 on five birdies and an eagle on hole nine to close in 11th place. Jones shot a 69 followed by Reddell with a 70 as the pair tied for 20th overall. Debruyckere fired a 73 to come in 42nd, and Tabor shot an 84 to come in 46th.

Cantillana had a final round score of 73 as he tied Tabor for 46th overall.

As a team the Cougars shot a total of 844 (280, 283, 281) as they tied Lubbock Christian for fifth place overall. Host Colorado Mesa claimed the victory with a total of 828 for their second straight win to start the fall.
