LAKEWOOD,CO- After an extremely special regular season that saw many records broken, eight different players receivedĀ all-conference and gold glove honors. After a 34-4 RMAC season, Head Coach Larry Hays has been named the Coach of the Year.Ā
Alexis Hamilton has been honored with First Team All-Conference after a record season from the bump. In 150.1 innings pitched she has struck out 133 batters, recording a mark of 21-2 with a WHIP of 1.07. She holds an ERA of 2.27 as she continues to dominate in a record year.
Taylor Olsen nabs First Team All-Conference at first base after a very strong season. She leads her team in RBI with 57 and has a batting average of .409 through 53 games played. Her slugging percentage of .786 is second on the team and she has 14 homers as part of her 65 hits on the year.
Sydney Reamer is on the First Team All-Conference listĀ and RMAC Gold Glove Team after a stellar year at third base. She has started all 55 games for the Cougars and holds a batting average of .427. She has 70 hits and 50 RBI with a slugging percentage of .695 in 164 at bats. At third she has recorded 149 catches and 108 assists with an impressive fielding percentage of .966 on four double plays turned.Ā
Center fielder Sami Edwards is in the midst of a career season, and she has been honored with First Team All-Conference for her efforts. She holds an astounding batting average of .481 and a slugging percentage of .881 as she is the most consistent hitter on a Cougars team full of great hitters. Edwards broke a school record for triples in a season with 10, and she leads the team in hits with 89. Her on base percentage of .524 leads the team and she has been a huge part of the incredible season for Colorado Christian.Ā
Kenzie Middleton has brought the offense all year long, averaging .399 at the dish with a team high 15 home runs. She has driven in 54 runs in 198 bats from the leadoff spot, netting a slugging percentage of .783 along the way. Middleton has 79 hits with 15 doubles to match her homer count.
Piper Lujan has done it all for the Cougars this year, playing catcher and batting as a designated player in the lineup. For her efforts Lujan has been awarded First Team All-Conference and has been placed on the RMAC Gold Glove Team. At the plate, she is hitting for an average of .331 with 13 homers and 49 RBI on 55 hits. Behind the plate, Lujan has 158 catches with six assists and a fielding percentage of .987.Ā
Shortstop Kayla Middleton has landed Second Team All-Conference after a stellar year. In 54 games started she has 54 hits with five homers and 34 RBI. She has an average of .378 and a slugging percentage of .643 in 143 at bats.
Kaelin Morkisch has garnered a spot on the RMAC Gold Glove Team after a strong season in left field. She did not commit an error all year in left, making 42 catches with an outfield assist to go with it.Ā
Larry Hays has been named RMAC Coach of the Year after an outstanding fourth year at the helm of the Cougars. He has led his squad to a 34-4 conference record with an overall mark of 47-8. Colorado Christian is in the top 10 of a plethora of categories, including runs scored with 405 that puts them at second in division II. The team has clicked on all cylinders this season due in large part to the excellent coaching of Larry Hays, and he has been rewarded for his impressive contributions.
