LAKEWOOD, CO- The NCAA announced who will be competing in the Outdoor Track & Field Championships Tuesday, and CCU will send seven runners to take part. Matthew Storer and Josh Pierantoni lead the way, qualifying for the 5k and 10k. Isaac Russo will also take part in the 10k. In the 1500m, Trent Cochran, Alex Vance and Hudson Majeski have all qualified, while Zanzie Demco has made the 1500m on the women's side.
Storer is in the midst of an incredible year as he has already garnered All-American honors twice, in cross country and the indoor 5k. He will go for a third and fourth as he takes part in the 5 and 10k at Nationals. With a time of 13:54.46 and 28:57.48, he will look to do damage and post a strong finish amongst the best in the country.
Pierantoni will also take part in the 5 and 10k after a strong outdoor season. He leads the team in the 5k with a 13:52.62 while he is just behind his teammate in the 10k with a 28:57.92. Pierantoni is primed for a strong showing in both events and will look to bring home some hardware for his team.
Russo will take part in the 10k as well, with a time of 29:14.26 coming in. He will look to keep pace with his teammates and post a strong showing.
Cochran will take part in the 1500m, coming in with a time of 3:45.05. He will look to run strong and take home more honors to add to his illustrious career at CCU.
Vance has the best time in the 1500m this year for his team with a 3:44.46. He will look to improve on his time and finish near the front of a loaded field.\
Majeski rounds out the Cougars in the 1500m with a time of 3:44.74. With an All-American honor in the indoor 1500m, he will look to add to his list of honors in the event.
Demco rounds out the Cougars competing, racing in the 1500m on the women's side. With a time of 4:23.76, Zanzie will look to compete amongst the best in the country and post a strong showing.
The National Championships will be held at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl in Pueblo, CO May 25-27. Live stats and a livestream will be available at ccucougars.com under the Track & Field schedule.
