Dylan Arthur Claims Title, Cougars Punch Ticket to Nationals with Tie for Second at Regionals

LAS CRUCES, N.M.- Colorado Christian headed to New Mexico May 9-11 to take part in the West/ South Central Regional Championships to try and extend their season. After a tough first day, the team responded like the top 5 team in the nation they are, charging back into contention and tying for second overall to book their spot at the National Championships. Dylan Arthur was lights out, picking a great time to win his first collegiate tournament as he went nine under par to claim the individual title. 

ROUND ONE 
Adam Duncan led the team on day one with a 70 on the par 71 course as he sank six birdies. Dylan Arthur followed with a strong round of 72. Peyton Jones followed with a 74, while Bradley Mulder carded a 76. Xavier Bighaus closed with an 80 to finish out the first round.  

ROUND TWO
With the top five qualifying to Nationals, the team had some work to do on day two as they sat in eighth. They responded like the skilled and quality team they have shown all year they are, starting with a 65 from Arthur as he shot a bogey free round with six birdies to surge up the leaderboard. Duncan carded eight birdies as he finished with a 66. Mulder finished with a 70, while Jones shot a 71. Bighaus posted a 77 to finish things off as the team moved into the top 5 position. 

ROUND THREE
Arthur continued to impress in the final round, staying consistent with a 67 as he finished the tournament nine under par to claim the victory, his first ever collegiate win. Duncan followed with a sixth place finish as he posted a 72. Jones also shot a 72 to tie for 27th, while Mulder carded a 77 to tie for 59th. Bighaus finished with a 79 to tie for 97th. 

As a team, the Cougars totaled a score of 852 (292, 272, 288) as they tied with Oklahoma Christian for second place to book a spot at the National Championships. 

Up next for CCU is their second trip in program history to the NCAA National Championships as they look to claim the teams' first National Title. The championships will take place in Winter Garden, Florida May 21-25 at the Orange County National Golf Center.
