LAKEWOOD, CO- The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced their Cobalt All-America Scholars on Tuesday, and after maintaining excellence in the classroom and on the course,
Adam Duncan,
Xavier Bighaus,
Sangha Park,
Peyton Jones and
Bradley Mulder have achieved the prestigious distinction.
To be eligible for a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Duncan claimed his second straight All-America scholar honor after a historic year that saw the senior win four tournaments, average 68.7 and win the Jack Nicklaus National Golfer of the Year award. Adam did all of this while excelling in his studies in Kinesiology and Exercise Sciences.
Bighaus nabs his first All-America scholar distinction after a tremendous season to cap his career at CCU. With two wins and a scoring average of 70.1, Xavier was a big part of the Cougars domination this year as they won every single regular season tournament.
Park claims the honor after transferring to CCU for his final year of college and excelling on the course and in the classroom. With a pair of wins and a 69.2 scoring average, Sangha won the RMAC individual title as he shot a course record 62 in round two to close a storied college career.
Jones claimed his second consecutive All-America scholar this season as he helped his team back to the National Championship for the second straight year. With seven top 20 finishes, Jones was a consistent force on the team as they won every regular season tournament and claimed back-to-back RMAC Championships. With a scoring average of 71.7, Jones was a strong presence all year long while maintaining excellency in his studies.
Mulder claims the first All-America scholar honor of his career as he was stellar throughout the season and exemplified what a true student-athlete should look like. With five top 20 finishes and a scoring average of 71.6, Bradley was a major contributor to his teams' historic run this season.
