LAKEWOOD, CO – The NCAA announced its selections to the Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Tuesday afternoon.
The Colorado Christian track and field team will be sending three student-athletes to the event in Birmingham, AL for the meet March 11-13.
"It is great to see the hard work for these three individuals pay off in a big way. This is both an exciting moment for the team and these individual student-athletes. I know these athletes will make the most of this opportunity and pave the way for more Cougars to join them in the future," head coach Jon Poag said.
On the men's side Josh Pierantoni earned entry in the 5000 meter after running an automatic qualifying time at Front Range #2 in early February. The junior is one of 16 student-athletes to get invited to compete in the event. Nicholas Skinner will compete in the one mile. He ran an altitude converted time of 4:05.93 at the UCCS Open at the end of January.
Michelle Kuipers earned entry into the 800 meter race. The freshman is the first Colorado Christian woman to earn a spot into the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Kuipers won the 800 meter race at the RMAC Championships in an altitude converted time of 2:12.27 to earn the invitation.
