LAKEWOOD, CO- The first Spikemark rankings of the year have been released, and after an impressive fall season the Cougars come in at 3rd in the South Central Region and 6th in the country. It is the highest national ranking the team has ever received in program history, something the team has worked very hard to achieve.
CCU currently holds a 57-12 head-to-head record as they took on a multitude of top teams within their region. The South Central Region that the Cougars compete within has the most teams ranked inside the top-50 with 11, including four in the top 10. It has been a strong season already for Colorado Christian as they won their opening tournament before claiming second in four more tournaments. The team beat regionally ranked #1 and nationally ranked #3 CSU Pueblo in their opening tournament before taking them down again at their next tournament as they have shown in their six tournaments that they can play with anyone.
Head Coach Mark Hull spoke on his team's ranking, saying "I am happy to see the hard work the guys have been putting in is paying off. They were able to continue this Fall what they started last Spring. We entered the Fall expecting to be a top 5 team in the nation, and we are right there. We are going to work hard in the off-season, and do everything we can to continue to climb the rankings. Ultimately, the final rankings are what matters, so that is where we are focused."
The team will begin the spring season with confidence on March 3-5 as they look to repeat as champions at the Las Vegas Desert Classic at Boulder Creek Golf Course in Nevada.
