LAKEWOOD, CO- After what was the best season in program history, men's golf comes into the year with lofty goals and expectations. The rest of the conference sees the Cougars as a threat, as they were picked to finish first in the RMAC in the preseason poll announced Wednesday morning.
There is much to be excited about this CCU team, as they return their main core and added a talented freshman to the mix. Adam Duncan and Xavier Bighaus were responsible for three individual victories last season, and both will be back booking for more this year. Dylan Arthur, Peyton Jones, Cole Grossl, Benjamin Fowler and Cameron Sandland all return to the team, and Bradley Mulder has been added to bolster an extremely talented group of golfers.
Last season was one for the books as the Cougars won consecutive tournaments for the first time in the programs' history. They nearly won the RMAC, going to a playoff to decide the result, and they received a high ranking at the NCAA Regionals. Despite falling just short of a National Championship berth, this team learned a lot about what it takes to compete at the highest level and will surely be hungry to make a run all the way to the championships this year.
The talent is certainly there for a special year, and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has tabbed the Cougars as the preseason #1. Colorado Christian will get their year started at the nearby Bear Creek Golf Club in Lakewood on September 10-12 as they host the Writz at Mile High.
