Five Runners Punch their Ticket to Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

LAKEWOOD, CO- The NCAA announced the qualifying list for the 2024 Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Tuesday, and after posting some top times throughout the season, five Cougars will make the trip to Emporia, Kansas to compete against the best in their respective events on the track.

Hudson Majeski finds himself 7th in the field for the highly competitive 1500m, marking the second straight season he has made Nationals in the event. The senior ran a blazing fast time of 3:43.16 at the CSU Pueblo Last Chance Meet on May 4 to earn his spot. After finishing 17th at last year's championships, the Fort Collins native is ready to push for a spot in the finals and an All-American nod.

Matthew Storer leads the team by qualifying in two events for the National Championships, making a return trip in both the 5k and 10k, two events he excelled in at the championships in 2023. The Colorado native finished 2nd in the 5000m, followed by a fourth place finish in the 10k to bring home two All-American honors. The junior finds himself racing for another national title in 2024, running the 5k in a time of 13:47.34 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California in April. The top five times in the country were all ran at that meet as the competition will get another look at each other at Nationals. In the 10k, Storer posted a strong time of 28:54.87 at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invite in March to punch his ticket to the championships in the event as he looks to claim a national title in the two events.

Josh Pierantoni makes another appearance in the 10k this season after he finished 5th in the event at last year's Nationals. The graduate student ran the 12th fastest seed time with a time of 29:03.62 at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invite in March. Pierantoni will look to close his college career with a national title in a distance race he has excelled in throughout his career.

Alex Vance closes out the men's selections as he earned himself a spot in the 3000m steeplechase. The senior will be making his first Nationals appearance in the event as he posted a strong time of 8:54.77 at the Spank Blasing Invitational in March. The time gave Vance the 15th best mark in the nation as he looks to close out his time at CCU with a national title in Kansas.

Last but certainly not least, Shannon King makes her second career appearance at Nationals in the 3000m steeplechase. The senior earned her spot after a run of 10:32.00 at the Mt. Sac Relays in April. King will look to shine as she takes part in the difficult steeplechase with a chance to close her career in memorable fashion.

Congratulations to Hudson Majeski, Matthew Storer, Josh Pierantoni, Alex Vance and Shannon King for their qualifications to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships! The event will take place May 23-25 in Emporia, Kansas at Francis G. Welch Stadium.
