LAKEWOOD, CO – For the second time in school history the Colorado Christian men's track and field program is nationally ranked.
The weekly rankings published by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coach Association (USTFCCCA) has the Cougars ranked 23rd in the nation. They were previously ranked in the top 25 during the final weeks of the 2018 regular season.
"This ranking is a testament to the hard work our runners have been putting forth. In the most unique of seasons, they have not wavered in their commitment to getting better on a daily basis," head coach Jon Poag said. "What is especially impressive is that we have gained this national ranking through running events only. I look forward to seeing what this program can do when we actively recruit jumpers and throwers."
So far this season the Cougars have had three individuals post NCAA provisional qualifying times. Josh Pierantoni has earned marks in the mile and 3000m events while Trent Cochran and Nicholas Skinner have registered the necessary times in the one mile race.
The Cougars are slated the continue their season on next weekend at the Colorado Running Company UCCS Open and Front Range No. 3 events in Colorado Springs and Golden, CO respectively.
