One of the most accomplished athletes to wear the CCU uniform; Chris McClellan joined the Cougars as a goal keeper in the fall of 1999 and immediately began re-writing the men’s soccer record books.
In only his first year as a collegiate athlete, Chris started all 18 games while logging 106 saves, recording five shutouts and posting a CCU single season best 1.44 goals against average.
As a sophomore, McClellan continued to add to his resume, becoming CCU’s all-time shutout leader with 10 shutouts in two seasons, while earning First Team All-RMAC and First Team NSCAA All-Midwest Region.
Over the course of his career, Chris earned a total of three RMAC First Team awards and three NSCAA All-Midwest Region nods. He was the 2002-03 NCAA DII Statistical Champion and ranks top-five in the CCU record books in no less than 10 categories.
Following his stay with the Cougars, Chris enjoyed a successful professional career with the Charlotte Eagles and the Carolina Railhawks of the USL First Division.
