Ash Cannan came to CCU in the fall of 2001. Immediately a favorite with students and fans, Ash made an impact on the basketball court and in the CCU community. A member of some of Colorado Christian’s most successful men’s basketball teams, Ash earned All Conference honors in 2005, and captained the squad his junior and senior seasons. To this day, he remains in the top five of the CCU record books for single season field goal percentage, career field goal percentage, and career rebounds. A three-time Academic All-Conference selection, Ash was also named Colorado Christian University Male Athlete of the Year in 2005.

After graduating with a 3.77 GPA, Ash began a seven-year professional career in his home country of Australia. He was a contracted player with the National League South Dragons in 2006-07 and also played with the Victorian League Dandenog Rangers. While a member of the Rangers, Ash was name ABA National Grand Final MVP and an ABA National Men’s All Star. He toured China with the ABA All-Star team in 2007 and 2008.

In 2009 he joined the Brisbane Spartans, continuing his excellence in the South East Australian Basketball League and again receiving All-Star honors in 2009-2010. A member of the 2009 Australian University Games Gold medal team, he was an All-Australian ‘Green & Gold’ selection in 2009, and represented and captained the Australian Men’s Basketball team in a tour of Qatar in 2010. Then in 2013 Ash joined the Geelong Supercats where he played over 120 games, retiring from the SEABL in 2017.
